His leadership and inspiration to the Shohoku team is beyond obvious. He maintains a very positive and dedicated spirit in the team. He is a tough coach to the whole team, especially to Hanamichi when Hanamichi is out of line.
He is a proud person who does not easily speak his mind. Even though he has high hopes for Sakuragi for being the pivotal player in the National Championship, he would never openly say it. The already conceited Hanamichi’s only way to improve is to tell him that he is never good enough.
