I like Ayanami Rei - Aside from the fact that she has qualities in her of a perfect girl, Rei's emotions develop over the series, and watching that, I develop a natural affection towards her. She's so..... Rei. Not only is her character very-well developed and at the same time very vague, everything about her is like that. I like her and am repulsed by her hidden identity, in the same way Shinji and Misato hates and likes their fathers. Rei is not only the perfect symbol for Evangelion, but she is an enigma as well. Her unsurpassed beauty is only matched by Hikari, but since Hikari is not as intriguing, I have voted for Rei.

Ayanami Rei - She's so cool and looks sweet too

Katsuragi Misato - Misato is my favorite chatacter because she has been through a lot of things and she still is outgoing and cares for others. She cares for Shingi as if he really was part of her family, and can relate to him because of their fathers.-
Ryouji Kaji - Actually, because, he is a mysterious man, who knows his way around life. He knows how to speak, and what. And may look as a lady's man, but he always acts wisely, and had the solutions for the problems.- gabo
Souryu Asuka Langley - she is one tough girl yet so charming and pretty. i like her personality and most of all she's my idol.- Shawine
Nagisa Kaoru - Nagisa Kaworu (I like call him Kaworu), he might be the strongest charactor of Evangelion. Although he only appear on Ep24, but his words was most important scene of Evangelion. He was a man made life, in another he is a sinless soul, so he was an angle. I like him because he like Shinji. He use his life to save Shinji, world is worth less to him, Shinij was the most important. He might pay anything to make Shinji alive, if Shinj would. I like his true love. He was do much more than Asuka does. Somewhere form Shinji: "There are 3 most important people in my life..... Rei, she save me by her life.....Asuka, always beside with me.....and Kaworu, the first person who told me "like"....." Actually, I like the last sentence he say:"For me, death and alive worth same of me, but death is the only way to make me free....."- Shio
Souryu Asuka Langley - Imagine taking characters with flaws so unimaginable that you may think how they're able to live. Now imagine destroying them one by one. There you have the primary objective of the Angels: to destroy the Eva pilots themselves, in any way possible. Well, enough theory. I like Asuka because everything important to her collapsed into themselves, including her own pride, and she was able to return from her destroyed state (eventually). Many people find her annoying, and I say that's bad translation or casting (depends on which ADV version you saw), or people don't recognize or respect that particular kind of humor in Japanese anime. The first time I saw Asuka was in the English language version, and I found her annoying as hell but also goddamn funny! Maybe it's because I was able to 'hear' the Japanese part of her through the terrible translation and English casting. In any case I was able to enjoy her humor even more when I finally acquired (legal) copies of the Japanese version.- Melchior
Ayanami Rei - I think that the mystery behind Rei is very interest. She is always thinking about life and the meaning of it, which makes her character someone for many to relate too.- nikki
Ayanami Rei - What can be said about Rei that hasn't been said before? Enigmatic, beautiful, incredibly strong yet also touchingly vulnerable, she is the heart of NGE. Rei II is the sort of charachter that makes you wish you could live in the anime, just to have more in common with her, clone or not.- Agent Orange
Souryu Asuka Langley - I love Asuka. Of all the people I know I'm the only one. But I just don't understand how you couldn't. Without Asuka NGE would be a show that is so depressing i wouldn't enjoy it. Everything about her screams energy and wheither you love her or you hate her, at least she makes you feel something. Unlike Rei (who I don't mind), who just sits around like an emotionless puppet. The reason people like so much is because when she does nothing for 5 episodes then blushes in a sixth you are happy because her expression changed for once. Asuka always offers you a chance to laugh, and for me, the most emotional part of the series was when she was mentally raped by the 15th angel. Plus she's the only one with the guts to call Shinji and idiot when he's being...well, an idiot. Go 2nd child!!!- Terrence "Kakaze" Thorington
Suzuhara Touji - Tohji (that's how it's spelled on the cards, eh?) Is really the most realistic character in Evangelion. Rei is awesome, but how many people in reality act like her? He's a typical teenager who's thrown into bizarre situations. He's not as "Traumatized" as the other characters. He's very loyal and does whatever must be done. He's also really witty. (quite a bit like Asuka really) He's the fourth child, and is actually in the show more than Kaworu, but he gets shafted in all the Eva posters and at the end of the series. I think the best example of how he's more realistic is the dream of the train ride, where Rei and Shinji are very melodramatically discussing Shinji's father; and Tohji just says, bored "Why are they fighting?" And of course, he's really cute!- better not, all the Rei lovers are gonna kill me.
Souryu Asuka Langley - she attracts me cos she hides her injured self and miserable past behind a brash and impulsive character, unlike shinji (who shows his pathos bigtime) and misato (who hides by being cheerful)- Ka-Wing Tam
Ayanami Rei - Ayanami Rei... everything about her is beautiful. Her face which is that of an angel, her hair which like her personality is not flashy yet brings out her beauty to the fullest. Her eyes... kind, trusting and innocent. Her soft-spoken personality which at first seems cold but through her actions you discover she is very sweet and compassionate. She would never harm anyone yet she would give her own life to protect people from the angels. And she would ask for nothing in return. How could you not love someone like that? Her words and actions are short and few but when she does speak or act, it is a thing of beauty. Even her name... Ayanami Rei... is beautiful. If someone like her really did exist, who wouldn't fall for her?- -Her biggest fan
Souryu Asuka Langley - I think Asuka is so much better than Rei. She is full of energy and she feels as if she has worth. She gets what she can out of life. Her personality just begs for attention and she is very cute! She may seem mean and annoying, but asuka is a truly a character to enjoy.- Sorry Rei lovers....
Ayanami Rei - Everybody just loves Rei. The reason why I voted for her here is because I like innocent and quiet people, take Hotaru in Sailor Moon for example (in Sailor Moon S). When I first saw here in the series, we was a fragile, quite girl, almost like Rei. I like her a lot as well. Hotaru is also known as Sailor Saturn. Back to Rei. I just like Rei. She's the opposite of Asuka. I like Asuka too but she acts cocky. She alsways thinks she's number one or something. Rei just does her job, no questions asked. Souryu Asuka Langley - I`m a girl from Germany and I hate Rei very much!!! She is a half Angel!!! Asuka is a powerful girl. She`s much better than Ayanami. She can fight for herself and she is nice, too. Asuka is can laught and Rei not. Ayanami is a idiot! She`s never better than Asuka!!!- Franziska
Nagisa Kaoru - Gosh. You ask the hard questions don't you. Well, to tell the truth, I don't really know. All I know is that despite only being around for one episode, Kaworu is my favourite character in Evangelion. But since you've put me on the spot, I'll answer as best as i can. He's such a wonderful character. In a midst of such depressing and dark characters, he shines out. He likes music (as do I and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is my favourite too) and he's very open and friendly. Everything he says is worth thinking about. He was the only person who loved Shinji for himself and made him feel wanted. Anyone who can make the poor hero of NGE feel good gets my vote. And before anyone asks, I am a supporter of a Kaworu/Shinji relationship :) Shinji deserves someone who loves him. And to top it all off, he's an Angel, both the NGE angel and the heavenly type :)- Leareth
Nagisa Kaoru - I love any character who can generate sympathy for the ultimate enemy. kaoru taught us that the angels aren't just lifeless, heartless beasts, that they're a race fighting for survival as we are. He shined light and kindness on a dark and destructive enigma. If Kaoru were not three-dimensional, I'd sure as hell like to meet him.- Cruel Angel
Aida Kensuke - Okay Okay, now I know that Kensuke, is kinda well, a "NERD". But he has some ofd the most comical spots int the movie. The scene where he's in the field playing war, "Aida you fool!" , I was laughing so hard I fell over. And on the battleship when he was running around with that camera saying "cool cool cool" it was hilarious. Kensuke should have been an Eva pilot more than anyone else, well Kaworu is the excetion there, But still he would've given it his all , and maybe one day have been the same level scientifically as Ritsuko, but NOOOOooooo, His home is destroyed and he moves away.HE IS one of my favorite characters because of those reasons.- Kurtis
Horaki Hikari - Actually I liked all the characters in Evangelion but Hikari has got to be my favorite. She is very sincere and motherly, and saw Toji for what he really was (a sweet, compassionate guy, not a "dumb jock" as Asuka said). She even wanted to cook food for him (I dunno, I just find that sweet)! And even after Toji lost his left leg she still had feelings for him and even visited him in the hospital room. Ayanami Rei - Rei is a mystery to everyone. She just appeares with no past and no feeling. She may look dull, no emotions but inside her, she is finding the way to her emotions. She may not be as talkative as Asuka but she is cool and calm and is determined to finish the task she is ordered to. I think she is just the best character in Evangelion!- Chibi Athea
Ikari Shinji - In lots of ways, Shinji is alot like me, because he is very realistic when it comes to facing his own fear. Being constantly looked down upon and riddiculed is bad enough, but his case is too extreme. I am proud see that at the end he had overcoming his obstacles. you are very brave!- Tony Choi
Ikari Gendou - Gendou was far and away my favorite from the first episodes. The dysfunctionality of the Ikari family is amazing. My favorite scene is the one when the elevator opens and Shinji cowers under Gendou's stare. The dark nature of Gendou and the way he manipulates all of the other characters just made him an awesome character for me to watch.- Chris B.
Nagisa Kaoru - I LOVE him...sorry if it sounds weird cause he isn't cute or anything, but it's true. He is a very mysterious character and I'm attracted to his inner pains on not being able to be like any other human being. Him being an angel seems MORE mysterious and more painful. It's pretty sad that he had to die. He didn't seem like he was really an angel, just a nice guy who befriends Shinji. I think he knows he has to die. When he approaches Rei, and tells her that she was just like him, I think he felt that it was unfair that only HE had to die and not her. Anyway, I feel sorry for him, not to mention being attracted to him......- Pamela Won
Katsuragi Misato - She embodies the modern Japanese woman who is more liberated, carefree, strong, independent, and high in ranking. It is not so often that you find a beer guzzling, career oriented, instant food loving, female military officer in these animes plus-she's hot! Rrrrrrrr- Carlo
Ryouji Kaji - Kaji's a charming rogue with a good soul. He's also highly intelligent. He's still in love with Misato and it seems that the only reason why he makes plays for other women is because he doesn't think he can win her love again. He inspires Shinji. He encourages Misato. Even Asuka is better and more confident when he's around. He outsmarts NERV Intelligence, even when everyone knows he's a spy. He taunts Commander Ikari. He risks his life to find the truth. Isn't that why X-philes like Mulder?- Ish Harris
Ayanami Rei - I like Rei Ayanami because of the mystery she hides behind, she is physicaly perfect, she has a special beauty different than the other female characters as Asuka(who is the typical nuts blonde long haired ordinary girl. Rei's sensless is what make some people atraccted to her, but through the series she developes some feelings and that makes you like her more. whitout Rei the series would loose it's mystery. Ikari Gendou - It's difficult to choose (I am serious about it, since each character are really favouriable), , but I have to settle for Ikari Gendou at the end. Reason for this is because this bloody bastard (excuse my language here, but I still look at him as un-humane, cold- hearted autocract) might be asking the final question: Is human existance a continuous existance, or merely valid with our flesh? (I maybe excluding the Angels, but I believe that they are part of the Great Evolution) This might be the purpose of the Human Replacement Project; a project to place human existance as a utilitarian, single, commom being, with a commom aim and purpose. Unfortunately, Gendou wanted to place himself at the top of this chain (that's merely my guess from what I have read about 'The Death of Evangelion', since I haven't seem the movie, thus what I have said here is nothing more that speculation); he never break away his desire as the Dominator of this new existance. The other reason is his character explains the kind of strains suffered as part of the leadership: any order he made and gives will affect his subordnates, subjects, even the whole country. He have to bear the consequences of each of his actions, if this even means the loss of loved ones. Animes, mangas, novels and films don't often shown the ups and downs of being the decision makers, only concentrating on the glory sides of these bunch of so-called 'leaders'. Thus, Gendou is rather unusual, for it expoes the up's and down's of making these decisiion, with the pain and glory of it being equally displayed. These factors made Gendou a far more interesting character to watch-no matter how much I loathed this cold-hearted autocract.- Harold Au
Ryouji Kaji - I think Kaji had a sense of humour, but when he's at work he's very serious. I really appreciate that he could work as a spy just to find out the truth of Nerv. (Although he knew that it was very dangerous, he did not give up his objective.) He did not let others know about his feelings except Misato and Shinji,he was so mysterious! I like Kaji, he's really a character!- Rachel, a super fan of Evangelion.
Ayanami Rei - I like Rei because she draws me in.I watch the show and think if she was a real person what she would be thinking. Ayanami Rei - She is kind, cool, and people may only like her cuz she's attractive. She is the sensible one who is reluctant to let her emotians out. I think she's the best for many reasons. Rei is the kindest and would never hurt anyone. She has a thing for Shinji which makes her more of an enigma. Many people think she is insensitive, but she really is just afraid of being hurt. She is the sweetest. Her blue hair blows in the wind. Her eyes speak of curiosity. Her face rivals that of the jealous sun. She is perfect and rough and delecate all in one. She can not be solved. My only wish is that I hope we learn more of Rei.- John
Katsuragi Misato - Because she's super kawaii. Plus she's the most caring grown up in Evangelion. She actually cares for Shinji very much and she is very outgoing and fun to be with. She stands out amoung all the serious and dull characters in Eva.-
Ikari Shinji - Shinji is my favorite characer because he seems the most human.A lot of people call him a coward, a whiney brat, and so on just because he shows fear. It's healthy to be afraid to die. Not all heroes are as fearless and inhuman as we make them.- Shinj lover!
Ryouji Kaji - most people said they thought he was mysterious and really serious underneath, and that is why they like him.... I like him because he is a totally embarrassing jerk! he has the best quotes in the series and he is really kind to people, even IF he embarrasses the hell out of anyone who is female....especially those he likes best ^^;; he has a very cute attitude- Miss Ryohji
Ayanami Rei - she has profound depth in her soul. she sees everything for the first time like a child because of her stunted mental growth. and she is courageous, willing to put herself on the line to save others- josh
Ikari Shinji - I like Shinji because he reminds me of myself. He is shy, passive, and sweet which I find to be a rarity in guys these days. Shinji recognizes that he has problems within himself that he needs to deal with, and he does so successfully (unlike Asuka, who runs away from her demons by having a brash personality instead of fighting them). I also like the fact that Shinji is the main character considering that he is not your typical hero who is usually outgoing, daring, and popular. Shinji is the opposite, just like me:). It's nice to have the underdog the center of attention for a change so that everyone can know that shy people have feelings too. This is why I think that Shinji is number ONE!!- Rei Ayanami

Katsuragi Misato - She has a cool bitchy attitude and that's what I love most about her. She's also very pretty, and she also drinks~heh. She is very optomistic and very cheerful. I'm glad that there's at least one person that smiles almost every time she comes out. Also, she's very serious about her work in NERV. Ayanami Rei - I like Ayanami Rei because she looks kinda cute and pretty in a kind of way(if you know what i mean!).Not to mention she is very brave no matter how dangerous the task is. Also, throughout the series, she is a mysterious character and she seems to reveal emotions and her true feelings for Shinji which is not easy for anybody like her to do such a thing.- Al
Souryu Asuka Langley - Asuka is more open with her emotion than Rei or Shinji and because of this I find her to be a character I can identify better with. I think she is the most "common" type of personality amoung the Eva pilots, and to reason this, I have met plenty of prideful people who, like Asuka, like to think for themselves and won't take crap from others.-
Ikari Shinji - I like Shinji because I can draw paralells between his life and mine. The longing for friends, being abandoned by his father, the fact that he doesn't really have any dreams for himself. And, although he doesn't have a mom, he has a gaurdian that loves him for who he is and is always trying to show him how good life can be.- Brendan Jamieson

Ayanami Rei - Well, if you watch the Neon Genesis Evangelion, no one will disagree that Rei is the most enigmatic character in the whole series. You will be fascinated as you see Rei gradually learning, such, "human feelings". The most attractive character she is. No doubt about it.- Gloommask
Suzuhara Touji - I first saw him in the 4th video and he became my favorite because he's a funny character ( so is Kensuke ). Later on in the 9th video he was supposed to pilot a new Eva which I had to see . Unfortunetly he didn't get a chance at piloting it . He was in the eva but he wasn't piloting it ... I feel very sorry for him as he's nearly killed because Gendou decided to use the dummy plug in Shinji's eva . ( I also realize that Shinji would have been killed if Gendou didn't but that didn't mean Gendou had to sit and watch as Touji's eva was gettin' torn apart , especially when it crushed the pilot's pod . )- David
Ikari Shinji - Essentially, Shinji has the most complex character out of all in the series, which is most important. By knowing Shinji, we (or at least many of us) are able to look into ourselves and compare and contrast the personalities which make us human. I also think that this is why Evangelion is so popular with people. I am also so desirably close to pick Ayanami because looking in her gives even greater comprehension of human thought, but Shinji is just cooler too (more powerful, more mysteries, etc.). Pen-Pen is just great comic relief.-
Nagisa Kaoru - what can I say.. he was the first person to turn around to Shinji (a well troden chara) and say he loved him!! 'how sweet!!'^_^... but even *sadly* Kaoru's chara wasn't that much developed, some how he's going to be the one that sticks in peoples minds the most!! I mean he gave his life virtually for and because of Shinji!! what would have happend if he got attached to Asuka? (not a very good out come for mankind I think)... well thats what I think.. I hope some people bring out fanfics with Kaoru in soon!! ^_^- Bane Huntress
Aida Kensuke - I like Kensuke because I think he's kinda cute DON'T YOU SAY ONE WORD OR I'LL SLAP YOU LIKE ASUKA SLAPPED TOUJII!!! Also because he would have been a totally excellent Eva pilot because he would have been really dedicated to it I mean they picked Toujii do you believe that. I'll admit he's really weird it's like who else is going to do a army drill all by himself. He was also the first person who wanted to be Shinji's friend he was really being nice to him when Shinji ran away and he saw him.- Asuka really I swear
Souryu Asuka Langley - There is something intriguing about a girl with a gargantuan ego that seems to still need other people. I like that she has dimension, a genuinely charming (if you will) personality without the defense mechanism (her huge ego), and a fascinating personality with the ego.- C. Chen
Ayanami Rei - She is without a doubt the most interesting character in the world of Evangelion. The huge amount of mystery that surrounds her past in the beginning of the story, makes the viewer want to know more and more about her as the series progresses. The way she feels about interacting with other people and being alone is very moving. Though the system only goes to 10, I would vote 100 if it were possible!!!- CYNDERVII
Ikari Gendou - He is a master of the mind, never hesitating to use his power. He is looked upon as an evil being for some of the decisions he makes, all the while no one understands him. Yet all they do is lash out at him. I admire his sternness, he is a great leader.- Tamahome

Souryu Asuka Langley - I like Asuka, because of the way she acts around others, especially when they are praised and she is not. Also how she feels about shinji. It is obvious that she loves Shinji, because in the anime, she makes up an excuse to kiss him, and tries to hide the fact that she enjoyed it, because she was groaning the entire time. Also, i like the way she hangs around Shinji's hospital room, and runs away when he sees her. I also think she's really cute!-
Souryu Asuka Langley - I think she is the best character because she is not a super-hero, she has her feelings and her problems. She is not invincible, she is fragile. She is human.-

She never acts without thinking and is always thinking.I think she is so mysterious that no one really knows what or who she is, some people think she's an angel, some think she's a clone, and some think she's both. Some people think Asuka is mysterious, why? So she had a bad family life, a lot of peole do. Besides that fact she's probably the most shallow and concieted character in the whole show. Ayanami Rei - Because Rei is not a slut, not a bitch, she's very nice, and everyone loves mysterious people. Suzuhara Touji - Touji is the best because he is a normal 14 year old guy even if his sister was injured badly. He has a great sense of humor and is very caring. He may act all tough but under that he's just a sweet caring fun guy. You gotta give him credit for handling losing an arm and leg so well. TOUJI SUZUHARA RULES!!- Krysty Trinity
Ikari Shinji - He is the most under appreciated character in EVA. Shinji is compassionate, caring, and intelligent. He grew on me after he yelled at Gendou for doing what he did to Touji. Shinji is amazing as an EVA pilot.- A Shinji lover.
Pen Pen - I choose pen pen because at first he may seem like a normal everyday household pet that happens to be a penguin. But after watching the series about 3 or 4 times one begins to realize that everyone has a hidden signifacance even each eva unit has a differant meaning.Once one realizes this there is bound to be the question what is pen pen's meaning. I have come to the conclusion that pen pen represents what Misato lost in the artic. He is her childhood innocence, He is representative of her father and the lost 7 years that is why she takes care of him, and why she only trusts Shinji with him.- CHRONO9665
Aida Kensuke - heh, heh, heh, heh, heh!! Kensuke is marginally anything beyond a military freak. Barely anything is revealed of his inner psyche, inner personality, what have you. I dare say he is even more vague than Rei! And if "vague" is what sells, Kensuke's got the goods. Back when i was a hard core fan boy of the series, i drew kensuke and hardly anyone else! To the fanfic writer, kensuke is the perfect candidate to manipulate and mold in your own twisted, obsessed image. I lived vicariously though 'em for a year, or something. He's anything i want him to be. cool.- major
Ikari Shinji - Shinji is a character that is easy to identify with. He is the "Everyman" having to deal with doubts and insecurities that many of us are familiar with. Also, he has suffered so much, how can your heart not melt? If you haven't cried even once for Shinji throughout the entire series, then your heart is stonier than Gendo's. And last(but not least!!), he is also sooo kawaii!!!!!!!!- Alice Liddell
Souryu Asuka Langley - I like Asuka, well, because she's one of the only characters in Eva I can really relate to. Shinji, of course, I can relate to as well, but I don't know, there's just something about Asuka… She's better than Rei because Rei is a totally emotionless doll who does anything anyone tells her to. Rei's just the sexist 50's version of the 'perfect woman'. Physically beautiful, does anything you say and doesn't compain, has no mind of her own. Anyway, Asuka's also the best because she loves shinji and he loves her (though, sadly, they never admit it to each other)- El Zorro
Ikari Shinji - I like him because he is someone like me. I can relate to him. I never had the chance to really have a father figure and so he is like me. I and good at some things and i search for the praise of my father. Unfortunately he has his attention elsewhere. The pain he feels is obvious, but there is more to him, many people just think of him as someone who is a pushover who's daddy doesn't love him. Although his is seen as the weakest emotionally, you can see his strength shine through at certain times.- eric lee
Souryu Asuka Langley - "why?" yoo ask? well... i dunno... she IS only the most cheerful girl in NGE, and the one who brighten up the eva series... oh god, okay, I'M NUTS ABOUT HER!! she's cute, charming, cool and a girl with an attitude! she's also smart! comon! you know anybody at age 14 who graduated from university? i didn't THINK SO! i know that it is only a cartoon, but WHO CARES?! i'd marry her if she was really for real! she's like the other side of Ayanami Rei, who is stupid and emotionless!- i couldn't... the 'Rei" fans are gonna go berserk.
Ayanami Rei - I guess its because she is so mysterious...she puts her friends as afirst priority, and she is kinda immortal cause another clone will always take her place....and thats really cool! Her very pressence adds so much more to the entire story. ANd above all, i think she is very beautiful...especially when shes in her plug suit!- Guy who just finished watching the series
Suzuhara Touji - I didn't like him in the first, because he was like a bully who messes with everybody, like stealing their lunch money and stuff, but as he gotten through the episodes, the only thing that made him a bully because of his sister and he is a funny guy when he hangs around Misato with Kensuke- Eva
Pen Pen - Pen Pen (Misato's duplicate, apparently) seems to represent the loving and free spirit in all of Eva's cast, and also in ourselves. His unique personality plays mostly to comic relief, but I consider him to be something more. In any case, that rare point in the episode where he briefly appears always seems to put a smile on my face. He may not be a three-dimensional and complex character as everyone else in Eva, but after all is told, I will always love the little guy. He's the reason I'm into Yebisu beer. (heh)- Josh W. Tierney
Katsuragi Misato - I like Misato because even though she may be a bit of a lazy bum back home, she is real strict at NERV and does her job well. She's also seen her dad die and seen the second impact, but she is still bright and cheery with that kind of horrible experience she's had.- Emiko
Ayanami Rei - She is very mysterious throught the series and sometimes I thought she was some kind of zombie because she is very quiet and responds to serious questions in a spooky and unconserned way. And her voice actress Megumi Hayashibara seemed to be the first time that she is not doing the role of an energetic character but a mysterious and a quiet low voiced girl.-
Nagisa Kaoru - I like Kaworu because he is the only angel who has a human form other than humans themselves. He is the only angel to have penetrated Terminal Dogma and yet with all his power he made the decision not to destroy mankind. He lived up to his name as the "Angel of free will" AKA Tabris. Ikari Shinji - Even though he may seem like a weak guy at first he really comes through. His strength can be seen even when he is fighting with Asuka he faced so many things in his life and is still willing to pilot the eva. Anyway he is a confused little guy which is cute:-) and he piloted the eva for Rei even when he didn't know her, he can see people the way they are not for who others want them to be. And even though he shows the weakness of man somewhere in that big heart he is as strong or stronger than anyone in the whole series. he's cute to!!- Shinji's girl
Pen Pen - I like Pen Pen because he is such a 3dimensional character and his impact in the film series is although under apreciated, it is great. That and Brendan Jamieson gets quite angry everytime I elevate pen pen's status to that of a god. I also noticed his name on the list so I decided to put my sense in before he ruined everyone with his big words. Katsuragi Misato - I like Misato because she is really cool. My mother saw her one time and was so surprised that that was who Shinji was living with that I thought she was going to faint. There is one thing other than beer that I don't like about her she will not let Shinji be himself she is always trying to make him act like someone he's not even though in the end she really loves him. I think she is really lucky to have a guy like Kaji who likes her and to work at NERV I would kill for her job (except the paper work). Ikari Shinji - He is like an orphan abandon by his father, his mother died when he was young. this leaves a deep impression on me how pathic he is maybe he ought to be liked more. "Shinji" his name meaning know himself was a big difference in his character. He knew not why he was here, he knew not what living in this world was. Life is nothing. Ayanami Rei - Well... Let's just say that she reminds me of an angel... She's mysterious, beautiful, and is a character of wonder. She is so unlike Asuka, being quiet and all... I know that Asuka is a cheerful and a smart character of NGE, but stil. Without Rei, NGE would be boring. I also like how she is emotionless at first, but later develope personalities that are so enduring to me^_^ Although I like many other characters from NGE, I chose Rei, the girl of mysteries... Ayanami Rei - Like so many others have said, she is a puzzle. Part of the beauty of this series is that their are many things we are not told. This is what keeps us going, this is what keeps us interested. Rei is probably the best example of this. She makes us think, "why is that happening, why is she like that?" Souryu Asuka Langley - Asuka is outspoken person. She doen't hide or runs away. She stand up for what she thinks is right. Her pride is seen in lot of ways. Ikari Gendou - He's very calm and collected, and is able to get the job done without emotion clouding his judgement. He may come off as heartless at times, but he's one of the few in the series that can truly see the big picture, and he's obviously quite intelligent. Yet, for all his leadership capabilities, there is a sense that he is incomplete somehow. Perhaps by the void left behind after the death of his wife, which he is seemingly, at the same time, attempting to fill with Rei, or ignore altogether. He is certainly one of the more complex characters in the series, and the fact that he is both collected and diffusive at the same moment is extremely intriguing.- Kitsune
Ayanami Rei - She is an interesting character which is the opposite of Shinji. Shinji will pent up his anger until he explodes but Rei always be calm and cool and makes Shinji and Auska stay on their toes.- Kefka the Great

Plus, she has an attitude that just screams out "I dare you to say something bad about me so I can rip you a new one." Besides; she's hot and she mumbles in German a lot. Pen Pen - Let us ponder Pen Pen's integral part in such a intricately woven tapestry such as Neon Genesis Evangelion. What Pen Pen has done for us is something that we are yet barely able to comprehend. Such a deep and thought out character is Pen Pen that we must further delve into the psyche and the center of that lovable warm-water penguin that we all have affectionately come to know as...Pen Pen. The Comic relief and added wit,beautifully emitted from this character, is why we ALL continue to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. With it's beautiful plot, unsurpassed animation quality, and deep characters it is quite easy to over look Pen Pen. Pen Pen is WHY we watch Eva. Pen Pen is what calls us to watch Eva. Aida Kensuke - I find Kensuke one of the most psychologically balanced charaters in the series. I find it a great loss that his charater was not explored with more depth. However, from what little was shown in the series, I was charmed by him. Although he seems brash and loud on the outside, many normal 14 year old boys are. He seems deeply interested in war and battles (we all have our vices) but he is also a very intellegent individual. Of Shinji's friends, he is the stable one. The wisest of all, with the sound advice and the caring hand that will reach out for you in times of need. If ever there was a single stable thing in Shinji's life to cling to, it would be his friends, most significantly Kensuke. I find him charming, wise, witty, intellegent and caring. How could you not love a charater who looks at you with such charming mischeiviousness and gentle caring?- Don't we all wish for a second series?
Ikari Shinji - I like Shinji because he is a realistic character who suffers and has his "weaknessess". He represents a good deal of people in that many persons feel almost worthless and unloved, and thus, need to be "special" in something to feel important. Also by the fact that he often escapes reality in order to "ease" his pain, something done by a lot of people. Yet, he is courageous and cares about others, and won't hesitate putting other person's well being above his. I have to say I fell identified with him because of these aspects, that's why I think he's one of the best characters if not The best.- Outcast
Souryu Asuka Langley - I LOVE Asuka! She's the prettiest and smartest of the Eva children. She reminds of Vegeta from dragonballz. Like him, she has a lot of pride that often gets her in trouble. She always thrives to be the best and thats all that matters. Her best was seen in End Of Evangelion.- Sergio
Katsuragi Misato - I've never seen the series, which is a bad mistake, I'm dying to! Anyway, I've heard lots about her, and the reason I like her is because she and I have lots in common. I'm kinda outgoing and wild, but I don't drink beer, can't stand the stuff! And I think it's so cool that she has such a rank, I mean, how many women are there that have good ranks in the army etc etc? Sure there are a few, but not enough!- *~Kerri~*
Ayanami Rei - I like Rei because of her imperfection as a human. She is like a child, growing up, undecided, but willing to try and never give up. She has a very beautiful and sincere smile, very true and meaningful. She's not a typical girl, although she lacks real-life qualities of what a woman should be, she cares and shows her feelings honestly towards Gendou and Shinji. Again, she's an oddball, but if Shinji had to make a descision as to who to save in a battle, Rei would be my number 1 Priority. Souryu Asuka Langley - She is defintely my favorite NGE character. She's got brains, beauty, and brauns- however the hell you spell it. She's such an interesting character, so deep and complex. People might say Rei's a mystery, but what's so hard to figure out about a clone? It's pretty obvious she was made from Yui Ikari's DNA, and she probably didn't have much of a childhood. Well, there was that time she was strangled to death by Naoko Akagi, but I doubt she remembers that. Now Asuka, there's the real prodigy child. She graduated from college when she was about 14?! Well, hot dayum! Makes you wonder all the stuff she could do when she was just 6! She's got herself inside a box- theoretically speaking that is- she has this impenetrable wall built around her to protect her from everything she's been denied in her life; love, friendship, a mother...a father. Basically, another's touch. I can't help but feel sorry for the poor girl. She can be seen as annoying and as a bitch. Maybe, but all the people who just brush her off without giving her a second glance, who just immediately assume she's some hot shot who thinks she's the center of the universe, doesn't know her; they're denying the fact that she's a human and that something must have happened to her to make her act that way. In a way, she almost reminds me of myself. I don't really like people who can't earn my sympathy. Asuka's just got something about her...You can't help but smile when she slaps Touji or rushed head first into an Angel attack. She doesn't take crap from anyone, and doesn't doubt herself for a second...That is, till she gets mindrapped. The show would basically be dark and depressing without Asuka (and Misato) to add a little humor. And best of all, she's got Shinji! Damn, that boy is fine! *bites fist* Anyway, don't get me wrong- Rei's not...all that bad, the show wouldn't be the same without her- I'll give you that. But she's just a little too bland or my test. Nagisa Kaoru - Because he was the only Angel that cared about humanity and some what questioned the reason to go back to Adam. He also gave his life up for Earth. He was the only Angel that really cared about anything.-
Ikari Shinji - I think that shinji is hot and he has the best eva. People think he is a depressed freak. But he IS NOT! He has a wonderful attitude.(once ya get ta know him.tee-he!) All he wants is a person that he can talk to and they won't double cross him. We all have had that need. And don't you say you haven't had that need,because everyone has. Shinji is also very powerful. And he does not use his power for his own pleasure and needs but for what he thinks is the best for people. There is something in shinji's eyes that i cannot explain but i love his eyes. That is a little portion of why i VOTED for shinji!- Rae

Nagisa Kaoru - He is so..... cool, he has an innocent look on his red/brown eyes. He doesn't seem to worry about his destiny. He had a cool hair style (like if he doesn't really cares of what other people is saying to him). I am very sad because he died... I think it was unfair. Souryu Asuka Langley - I belive that Asuka has the best features, both phyicaly and mentaly. As you can tell why I like her physicaly, well shes very prety. Now down to the mental aspects of her. (I sat down with myself to think about this one)I chose Asuka because she is the most brave out of the 5 children, she has the most emotion when it comes to real life aspects. She show all of her emotion when it comes to things like joy and happyness. I belive that she is the most outgoing of the 5 children and has a loving aditude twords her EVA. In her own way she battles for Shinji's love. Yes Shinji loves both Rei (until he founds out that shes part of his mother) and Asuka, Yes she treats him like he is a idoit at times but loves him at the same time. Even though she losese control of her sync rate with her Eva over the pain that she kept inside for so long about her parents, she finaly showed it but lost her position at Nerv, that is why I belive that Asuka is the best out there.... p.s. did I mention that she was very kawaii?- Nick
Nagisa Kaoru - Kaoru has a very mysterious (or mystical?) air about him, yet at the same time, he touches your heart. He was Shinji's good friend when he needed one, and never changed his kind attitude, even to the end. However, he was the 17th angel, born on the day of the Second Impact (9/16/00).
